Was Beyonce Trying to Outshine Jennifer Hudson?
Posted by BrianI have read this in a few other blogs and I have watched this several times and I am still not sure. Either way it is one hell of a performance, but with all of the rumors about the beef between the two and it being rumored Beyonce was unhappy with the success that Jennifer has received, you have to wonder.
When watching the video, about the 3:15 mark to the end of their performance, It does look like Beyonce is trying to one up Jennifer a bit. What do you think?

i feel sorry for beyonce. i think she’s just good at what she does, and everyone is trying to make something negative out of that. the woman seems to never “slip”. almost as if she’s perfect. are you crazy, america can’t accept you if you’re perfect. america will bring you down as much as they can to make you like the rest of us imperfect individuals. its pure beyonce hate if you ask me.
JENNIFER HUDSON, HAVE LOST WEIGHT, SHE LOOKS VERY GOOD. SHE IS PRETTY, I LOVE HER LONG BEAUTIFUL HAIR. I AM GLAD SHE MADE IT. BUT LETS GET IT ALL STRAIGHT AND TOGETHER HERE. BEYONCE DO NOT HAVE TO TRY AND OUT SHINE NOBODY. SHE IS THE DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH AND SHE SHINES AUTOMATICALLY.
its her song she sung how she did in the movie and they were both acting like they was talkin to the same man. we tryna bring back sisterhood at least i am.they both did their thing
I don’t know. Any one can tell. First of all , although Beyonce does have some talent, we all can see, she maybe had to have some singing lessons or something for this movie. That’s my opinion. I definately see where she is trying to out sing Jennifer Hudson here and it’s RIDICULOUS…I mean her entire career she’s outsined the thers she was on stange with, my goodness let someone else have the spot light for a moment. She does not normally sing this NOR her other songs like that….
I have to say that I like Beyonce and now I really like Jennifer. Both women have a natural raw talent. Just like in any skill you have some who have different levels. Beyonce is one who can sing and is somewhat soft spoken. Jeniffer is a power house, even if she is trying to be quite with her lyrics they will come out hard and you will hear her. While the two ladies were singing together, it appeared as if Beyonce was trying to be heard over Jennifer. When I watched the award show my first impression was, “Why is she trying to out sing Jennifer. Don’t she know she can’t hold that much power in her voice!” The drama that everyone is creating is sad. Both women are trying to do their best. It just so happened that night, Beyonce was working a little harder than usual. But by no means does this mean that she is hating on Jennifer.
First of all there is nothing or have there ever been anything raw about Jennifer. But as a working musical theatre performer, had Dreamgirls the movie not been made the amount of vocal lessons Beyonce went through her voice would still raw. She’s a good singer but really had no use for training til this movie b/c the industry hyped her up so much her team didnt invest in her technique. She was working with Broadway Royality. She had to step up.
Now onto whether or not she was trying, and not very well, to out sing Jennifer…YES SHE WAS! But one should not go into battle unarmed. She looked like she was trying and Jennifer was just letting go and letting GOD work through her voice.
I dont know; maybe I’m missing something; i dont nobody was tryin 2 out do the other; its the grammys/live performance; u have 2 perform the song a lil different then the cd n the movie; i think it was an excellent performance on both of there parts; n no 1 singer is better than the other; they both r great singers;
Child please…..Beyonce needs to stop and reflect on how GOD blessed her for so long and still is doing so. She needs to allow room for others to be blessed. So in saying that…MOVE OVER BEYONCE, CUZ HERE I COME!
When you are the spotlight in so many eyes as Beyonce, the sista has talent, its a dog eat dog out there and if they were in the same situationm they’d pour their heart out for every performance they’d do also cuz thats how sista girl performs, Jennifer is a fresh raw talent in the making and she still has time to grow and gain the experience because their are performers who know how to handle this pressure of being put out there and Beyonce through it all has seemed to hold her own regardless. We all want sisterhood and we getting it but in competition aint nuthing fair!
FIRST OFF LET’S NOT GET IT TWISTED, ALTHOUGH JENNIFER HUDSON CAN BLOW BEYONCE WILL NEVER HAVE TO TAKE LESSONS. SECOND OF ALL BOTH WOMEN ARE BEAUTIFUL,BUT I DON’T THINK THERE IS NO COMPETITION.
Ok now we all know Beyonce is used to being the center of attention, but we must give her her due: SHE WORKS HARD FOR IT! There has never been an awards show or performance where she has remotely slacked off, personally she was tame compared to many of her other awards show performances. The girl is BLESSED with talent and determination for perfection.
Jennifer Hudson is BLESSED too also very talented, so she can appear to do what she does with ease and that is great. SHOULD WE REALLY BE COMPARING THESE TWO?
Everyone keeps trying to hype up the fact that Jennifer Hudson’s voice is better than Beyonce’s…like it’s actually going to take something away from Beyonce as an artist, Beyonce has already made a name for herself, and Jennifer is starting to, but I don’t think it’s a matter of Beyonce hatin, it’s healthy competition, iron sharpening iron. If Beyonce has finally come across real competition, good. That aint no reason for yall to start hatin on her like you expect her to fade out or be insecure about where she stands…and Jennifer I’m sure is too focused on being the best artist/singer she’s always dreamed of beig to focus on trying to keep up with some one else’s style.

I like both of them. I feel that maybe she was trying to outshine her. If you listen to how Beyonce talked about dreamgirls before it came out you would realize how much of herself she put into the movie. She said it was her dream role a role of a lifetime. And I think she did great in the movie I can’t imagine any one else playing her role. It just wasn’t her time to shine thats all. I’m sure that she will find other movies. I just don’t understand why every one seems not to like Beyonce anymore. I think that people are wrong about her she seems like a really down to earth person.

yES-yES-yES she was trying to upstage her own fool self. beating her chest and swinging her arm with that ugly red dress on. beyonce took 10 years to sing like this and jennifer just started. Jennifer can only go higher-that tells you somthing right there) Jennifer has talent hears haven’t heard or eyes seen. Beyonce is stagnated, finished and trying hard to stay in the game. What 25 year old shows her stomach or naval everytime she is in public. Be for real. Beyonce is only what Media has made her. Hip Hop is dead. When she turn 30 and Arthritis sets in from wearing those 4 inch heels , it will be all she wrote. I wouldn’t be surprised if Beyonce don’t end up like Blue in the Temptations trying to hop around like she is (15). BEYONCE YOUR 15 MINUTES ARE UP.
Jennifer is everything Gd made her to be. Beyonce is everything her dad made her to be. Even at the cost of hurting every single person in the destiny child group. You can’t knock Jennifer for her talent. She didn’t even have to use any body on her way to the top.
God has truly made Jennifer’s way. Do you Jennifer it was meant to be.
