Was Eddie Murphy Wrong For Leaving Oscars Early?
Posted by BrianThe brotha was upset! After Eddie Murphy did not win the Oscar on Sunday for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dreamgirls, he and his girlfriend, Tracey Edmunds left the show.
By leaving early, he did not see Jennifer Hudson win for Best Supporting Actress and he also did not see the rest of the Dreamgirls cast perform.
It is easy for me to say I would have stuck around to show support, but I like to win even more than the next man, so I could also see myself bailing out.
Is he wrong for that?

no he might have left to go get his freak on with that dime he was with
I dont thinks Eddie Murphy was wrong for leaving….he didnt win the award, that hurts….He grown he didnt have to stay….
I truly think it was immature of him for leaving, I mean we lose some we win some, but you should respect others around you and show sportsman ship. He shouldn’t of left, it’s an honor to be nominated and to even be at the Oscars!
Yes I that was wrong and immature for him to leave early…Yes he was hurt he didn’t win but he could have stayed and supported the rest of the cast that was nominated and performing that night….Even though Eddie is a full grown man…his actions is just like a little boi!
Yep, he was. Shows how he only cares about himself and no one else. He should have been honored with the noimation because the preformance was nothing better that what he’s done int he past on SNL.
I dont think it was any more rude of Eddie to leave when at the Grammy’s Beyonce left right after she won. How do we know that he didnt go home to watch on TV much like Beyonce?
Hell yeah he is wrong! That is what the “white man” wants. He showed that he is a sore loser. He should have kept a smile on his face and cried later. He must have said some stupid things to people prior to the show and he probably felt stupid for his boasting before they announced the winner.
Im kind of partial about it; I think he should have stayed just 2 support the others, but at the same time he could have left because he was mad or either he could have left because of other reasons; who r we 2 judge its his life n his choice whether he stays or goes, he has 2 live with that
Yes he was wrong. Eddie has been in the game long enough to know that lack of support is not professional. He should stayed to support his cast and be thankful for being nominated.
some people dont get the facts before they make dumb comments!Eddie left early when he won the SAG and the GOLDEN GLOBE!!!!!
He was the favorite for the OSCAR,but the acadamy BAMBOOZELED and HOODWINKED him!!!He was robbed! The acadamy was not going to let three black folk walk away with the oscar…and Eddie was the sacrifice!REAL TALK!
I think it would have been nice for him to stay to support his fellow castmates. However, I find no more rude than the absense of every other actor and actress who didn’t come because they weren’t nominated for anything. I also feel Eddie has every right to be pissed off at the media and award shows, for they’re denying him of his due credit for his talent due to the alligations of him impregnating and leaving Melanie “scary spice” Brown.
He’s a grown man and he should be able to come and go as he please, when u know your capabilities and talents and experience its hard to except anything less…
He was wrong for leaving. And noticeably absent when his fellow cast members won. I was suprised that he did not win…very upset. But if we going to call out Eddie for leaving early….what should be said about Mr. Fox who didn’t even show up? That is lack of support.
I co-sign with whoever said he is a grown man BUT it was sad that he didn’t support Jennifer Hudson who always gave him kudos in interviews.
well he cetainly wasn’t acting here! But this former “distinguished gentlemen” still gets my nomination for “Sore Looser”. Even if he was upset and wanted to make a statement, why make that makes you look stupid. Jimmy may have soul, but he aint got no oscar.
I think it was really unprofessional of him to leave early, you’re nominated individually but there is an unwritten expectation you’ll be supportive of the others you worked with (which means staying for their categories), so it just reflects poorly on him (even if he did leave early after the Golden Globes where he won). It’s about professionalism, to the END, pure and simple.
