May 8th is the birthday of boxing legend Sonny Liston. Charles “Sonny” Liston was born in St. Francis County, Arkansas in 1932. His professional boxing career consisted of 54 fights.
Two of his most memorable bouts are: The 1962 knock out of Floyd Patterson to win the World Heavyweight Title, and the 1965 bout against Muhammad Ali in which Liston was knocked out.

Shouts out to Sonny Liston. I talked with my dad about all the great figthers from those times and I know a lil bit about Sonny. It’s sad in a way that he’ll be remembered for being knocked out by Ali and not for knocking out Patterson to win the title.
