  Make it Easy To Diversify

Most funds require only moderate minimum investments, from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, enabling investors to construct a diversified portfolio much more cheaply than they could on their own.

There are many stock funds to choose from and the number of categories is dizzying. Some examples: growth funds, which buy shares of burgeoning companies; sector funds, which buy shares of companies in a particular sector, such as technology or health care; and index funds, which buy shares of every stock in a particular index, such as the S&P 500.

Michael Vick Banned From Training Camp

Posted by Brian

Michael Vick

Although the Michael Vick case has not gone to court, the NFL has already issued a verdict of guilty and banned Michael Vick from training camp.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell issued a statement that said:

“While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy,” Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback.

Vick will still receive pay for the preseason, but most likely will not be allowed to play this season is my bet. Goodell told Vick the league would complete its review as quickly as possible and that he expected full cooperation. The review is expected to involve conversations with federal law enforcement officials so the NFL can determine the strength of the case against Vick.

I totally disagree with Vick being banned, but I am sure the heat of PETA protesting at the league offices and the offices of the Atlanta Falcons put pressure on the league. Al Sharpton doing his usual ambulance chasing routine and speaking out against Vick did not help much either. Last week, Nike postponed the release of Vick’s shoe and other endorsers are pulling back from Vick.

This will get a lot worst before it is over.

Ja Rule and Lil’ Wayne were rapped last night in New York, both for possession of .40-caliber pistols, and just an hour and a few blocks apart from one another.

TMZ.com is reporting that around 10:30 PM last night, Ja Rule’s 2004 Maybach was stopped on Manhattan’s Upper West Side for excessive speeding and expired tags. When cops investigated, they found a .40-caliber Taurus pistol inside the car. Ja, his driver and a female companion were all arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon.

An hour later, just blocks away, Lil’ Wayne was “observed” by cops allegedly smoking weed in his tour bus. When police did a subsequent search of the bus, they again found a .40-caliber pistol, and arrested Wizzy for criminal marijuana possession and criminal possession of a weapon.

  Investing in Mutual Funds

What exactly is a mutual fund?

A mutual fund pools money from hundreds and thousands of investors to construct a portfolio of stocks, bonds, real estate, or other securities, according to its charter. Each investor in the fund gets a slice of the total pie.
