Totally Convinced That Lauryn Hill Is Crazy
Posted by BrianThis video confirms for me what we have speculated about for a while….Lauryn Hill is NUTS!!! I was able to look past the appearance of a clown that she is wearing because she had just finished a performance, but her answers are crazy.
She did not give one straight answer. My thought is she thinks she is so much deeper than the rest of us mere mortals that it hurts her to bring it down to our level. PLEASE!!! All of us hoping for another Miseducation album, can hang it up.
Didn’t want to go there, but she may have a habit that is much worse than weed.

I completely felt her….maybe because I am an artist and I understood what she was saying. It is a process and sometimes you have to separate yourself from things that will or at least to you become an hinderance…..She did seem to be distracted and somewhat to the left on some of her answers but I wouldn’t declare her crazy…..she is deep….and she has a very deep outlook on the world….but So did Bob Marley….he spoke in the same nature but maybe because he was a man that made him be great but because she is a deep woman and not talkin about gettin her hair did, buying up things that you can’t take with you when you die…..because she is being real…she has to be declared crazy? hmmmmmmm I disagree!
I think she was deeply wounded by Rowan???, her overwhelming success and motherhood combined, but she did not succumb to the many pit falls of the industry. Instead she chose to withdraw and isolate herself. I have heard twice this week that she’s lost it, but I saw Dave Chappelle’s block party movie and I know she is gifted and it is hard to not use a gift like that. She’ll be back on her own terms and I hope her fans will still support her. She reminds me of Prince when she’s talking about corporate music. Look what he put himself through to get where he is and everyone called him crazy too.
Lauryn is NOT crazy! she speakin the truth and she keepin it real on how she looks at life. Instead of some bulshit she just wrote and rehearsed just in case they ask a certain list of questions. I felt her on that. I think she may be too deep for you homie lol. Hell i would isolate myself too. The industry is filled with pure shit. Yeah the industry can be a bitch but yall can keep your blinders on if you want but I suggest you look at her body of work. From the legal disputes over credit production she didnt give to a group of producers on her hit cd, Her issues with her marraige to one of the Marley men, her diva attitude in regards to recording with Pras and Clef, to her antics on stage. It aint deep what she’s saying. Most artist talk about the corrupt music industry yall dont pay attention to them but she says it and its groundbreaking and deep? Are you serious? How can you justify the rants and half ass performances she put on in Oakland or her outburst in Holland about how the backstage should be during her performance? She’s the reason the Fugees aint out now. She wants to take credit for producing things now but dont know how to produce. I’m an artist too and she’s talkin about purpose come on! The Fugees are wantin to form again because they feel they have a purpose and the time felt right but she’s on some other stuff. Please read the recent news about the Fugees and why it aint goin down, Pras and Clef both explain wass been happenin for real. It sounds good to why she aint been out but let’s face it she’s on her diva stuff and it aint no album comin out. Read about her demands when she performs and what you are allowed to do and not allowed to do around her. She aint even clear the sample Kanye used to his song When It All Falls Down. Why? She was gon get paid. These reports you read about her aren’t made up people somethin is up and yall need to wake up. She didnt even answer why the Fugees aint formin, she reads the news please believe that. She’s the reason.
I watched it twice and I think she’s trying to be entirely too deep. Would I call her crazy…probably not. Weird…a lil bit. Am I gonna cop that next solo album…HELL NO!!!!!!!!
At this point I don’t think I will mess with anything my Ms. Hill does unless she has Clef on her side.
Now I understand where you true fans are coming from. In fact, people have compared her to Andre 3000. The difference is 3 Stacks has grown, but hasn’t changed. Ms. Hill on the other hand has changed.
From about ‘94 - now Andre’s delivery has been wicked…his content…second to none, and he’s probably in everybody’s top 5 (of all time).

When I saw Lauaryn in oakland I thought she had changed so much and I did not enjoy her concert because I was expecting her to sing her old music right away. But after hearing this interview I understand what she is going through and she just sound like she is wounded and she has been through so much. What is wrong with being true to yourself. Much love to you girl you will remain in my prayers.

Laurynâs interview was very informative, all the things she talked about make a lot of sense. On her analogies I think Lauryn is really trying to tell us something she is philosophical and when she talks some people might not understand what is she saying, but to be honest there is some critical message behind her analogies. From what I have gathered from the interview it seems like there is something seriously bothering her and she is not direct about it and people are not listening instead they choose to criticise her. In my mind there is no way such a talented artist like her can stay for so many years without recording an album, something is really wrong somewhere and she is not talking about it.
On the Fugees reunion people must not blame her, I read one article from the Rolling Stones apparently during the Fugees era she was always seen as the star of the group and she was approached by a lot of big corporations for advertisements and endorsements and she refused them indicating that she will never do anything without Wyclef and Pras, the sad story was that she sacrificed a lot for those two and to top it all I mean Wyclef sleeping with her for many years and then marrying someone else which proved that Wyclef did not have her best interests at heart, he was just using her for her talent. The article further stated that when she was about to record the Miseducation she asked Wyclef to help her out and he refused, when she supported him during the recording of the Carnival. On her solo do you guys remember that she was almost sued by some guys as if she is some dump ass sister when we know she has capabilities? Lauryn has learned the hard way and she needs to protect herself.
As for her appearance Lauryn has not turned ugly, she is still pretty it is the hideous wig and the make up that makes her look that way. I have a feeing that Lauryn is spotting this funny look to piss somebody off. It seems more like a rebellious look that her wanting to look pretty. As for her clothes I am still trying to figure out what is the problem with the way she dresses because Lauryn has always had her own personal style even the during the Miseducation era. Unless people want her to dress like these commercialised brainless and ignorant RnB female artists.
Lauryn isn’t crazy, just tired beat down and damaged… things happen and it’s hard to recover and readjust to the shape you once were. Understandable, maybe because we knew her to be so open and so revealing that now she’s in a shell we find that crazy and non sensical…. as for the industry it’s been shit since the begining of this century… it’s not comming back people… to much money to be made off of booty raps and cash flows. fucked up but it’s the truth. In all reality she is a gift but ego tripping and alot of exporsure force that to crawl up into a ball… her unplugged special was out there but very fullfilling if you really paid attention… rough drafts terrible playing broken voice… but she’s still there… maybe she just needs a whole lot of help…. she is a real person to… I don’t think anyone can put themselves in her shoes… remember her album was more than just a hip hop success it was a worldwide musical success… hard to live up to that even in your own mind….
Since when does speaking with intelligence make you crazy? Would she be more sane if she started screaming YEAAAAAH!! WHAAT! or threw a grill in her mouth?
The individual who originally made this posting seems to be an inexposed, airhead who has something against articulate and intelligent speech. Read a book and get some knowledge perhaps then she wouldn’t have come across as “crazy”. Clearly she’s facing a challenge but this is outrageous how people(and ignoramous ones at that) just think they have free reign to just make up and exaggerate lies and broadcast it as truth. You go and accomplish what she has and still is doing— and I doubt you could EVER hold a candle to her - crazy or no crazy. Its people like you who really break these peoples’ spirits — and that’s the unfortunate part of this — they allow people’s ignorance to get to them. I agree with the last five posters!! We love you lauryn! (and i don’t think that’s a wig, i think that’s the natural color of her hair cause i remember her having brown dreads before. she just hasn’t combed it or something)
With all due respect I strongly disagree with anyone who perceives our beautiful sista to be crazy, trippin or out of her natural mind. What I saw was a articulate, seasoned vet in this heartless music industry. Admit it, the sista is just waaaaaaay over ya head…….this is true. One Love

I was hearing so much about L. That she was crazy and even saw pictures. I also heard some of the rumors about her baby daddy. Now that I hear her speak I think that Lauryn has went through a lot of s*** and she is trying to recover from all of this. She is not crazy just going through some stuff and she is in the public eye. So I think we all need to sit back stop criticizing her and wait, the star that once shined will shine bright once again. Remember she is human too, and we all go through depression. She just needs good people in her corner who have her best interest at heart.
Ultimately time heals all wounds. We still love you Lauryn.
You must not be able to understand what people are saying. She did answer the questions, they were just more detailed answeres than your yeah or naw answers. Stop hating!
Other than her looks, she sound like the same Lauryn to me. Lauryn has always been different, you never knew how she was going to show up. Again, other than her looks I did not hear or see any thing bizarre about the interview.
I think her experience with Donnie Ienner (former Columbia records President) has caused her great pause….and rightfully so. There is no room for art at Columbia Records or for career building, or for truth. I don’t know what else she’s going through, in her personal life. None of that is any of my business, but it seems to me that artists used to speak in this manner all the time BITD. We look to those people as legends now….which begs the question…Why can’t we take our own generations heroes seriously? Why is it not OK for them to speak truth?
She seems to be doing her best to articulate what is important to her in this. Is it so hard to believe that being at the forefront of pop cultures fickle tsunami is not one of her priorities? Some people find it easy to hunt the spotlight at any expense, and they are therefore ubiquitous. Rarely can you call those people true artists though. In fact, one of the characteristics of that type of a continuing pop culture success story, is a willingness to abandon any and all artistic statements if it means retaining the title. Lauren seems to be OK to me….perhaps not the pop star some wish her to be, but a true artist in any case. She seems happy with that. If I were her, that’s all I would care about too.
