Black Enterprise, the magazine, has compiled its 2007 list of the top 10 cities for African Americans by looking at the city’s core and surrounding suburbs as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Although some of the cities remained on the list from 2001 and 2004 there were a few additions to the 2007 list.

This year’s survey showed respondents were satisfied overall with things like earnings potential, entrepreneurial opportunities and affordable housing. However, respondents were discontent with the quality of public schools, availability of daycare facilities and black political clout.

So did your city make the list? The list in order from 1-10 is as follows:

Washington, D.C. Metro, Atlanta, GA, Raleigh-Durham, NC, Houston, TX, Nashville, TN, Dallas, TX, Charlotte, NC, Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH and Jacksonville, FL.

There were a few that I knew would be on there, but honestly Columbus and Jacksonville caught me by surprise.
