Gabriel Prosser’s slave revolt was betrayed in Virginia on this date in 1800
 

Constance Baker Motley confirmed as U.S. district judge and became the first Black woman on the federal bench on this date in 1966.

A Race riot took place in Benton Harbor, Michigan and the National Guard was called  in on this date in 1966.

National Guard was also called to put down racial disturbances in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on this date in 1969.

Lt. Col. Guion S. Bluford Jr. The first Black US astronaut enters space on this date in 1983.

    The Republican Party could not do for Sarah Palin overnight what she was incapable of doing for herself in 40-some years of life: Getting an education. She had her whole life to prepare herself educationally and she did not. McCain chose her because no one else wanted to run with him and because he was trying to “counter” on Hillary’s fan club–fortunately, it didn’t work like he thought it would.
