Michael Vick Finally Catches A Break
Posted by BrianIf anybody needed a ball to bounce his way, it is Michael Vick. Well, he finally got a break yesterday as the Judge ruled that he can keep $16.25 million of the $20 million bonus that he received from the Atlanta Falcons.
A special master ruled in October the Falcons were entitled to recover the bonuses. The Falcons argued Vick used proceeds from a contract he signed in 2004 to finance his illicit activities. But U.S. District Judge David Doty of Minneapolis ruled that recovery of most of the bonus money by the Falcons would violate the NFL collective bargaining agreement. The agreement does not allow roster bonus money to be forfeited once it has been earned, the judge wrote.
I bet the judge knew that if he didn’t rule that way it was a lost cause because that money has already been spent. He was just saving everybody some time from a case where the Falcons would never get their money. There has to be better cases than suing a guy in jail.
