Stringer Bell- “An English Bloak”

Idris Elba is fed up with the lack of opportunities for Black English actors, due to black film roles being written for American celebrities. In an interview with Britain’s Empire magazine, he states, “There aren’t many scripts around that call for a English black guy. When you play an American long enough, everyone just assumes you are one. I shot 28 weeks Later back in England and even then they asked me to be American. Idris Elba was born and raised in Hackney, UK.
It seems like our black actors are having some trouble staying happy in showbiz these days. Terrance Howard’s troubles on Broadway and now Idris is having trouble as well. In regards to  Idris being from Hackney, UK…I think it would have been very interesting if he would have busted out the accent while playing Stringer Bell on The Wire. Can’t you see it-Him and Marlo ”choppin it up” about “the game” and Idris going off with the English accent. That’s hilarious… Â
I thought Idris was getting quite a few roles lately, but I guess they have been in the stereotpical roles. Maybe he might have to go down the road of writing and producing his own stuff.
