Tha Carter III Moves 423

Posted by Rod

thousand that is!!! According to Billboard magazine the excessive leaks and bootlegging of Lil Wayne’s new album haven’t prevented it from being a hot seller: The rapper’s “Tha Carter III” sold 423,000 copies in its first day of release. With such sales, Lil Wayne is on pace to sell about 900,000 copies of the CD in its first week and post the best sales debut of the year.

The release date for “Tha Carter III” was pushed back several times because the album was frequently leaked and bootlegged. The year’s best first-week seller so far was posted by Mariah Carey who sold about 463,000 of her “E=MC2.”

Love him or hate him you gotta give credit where credit is due. In this day and age of bootlegging, Itunes, etc. it says a lot when an artist can move 423,000 units in the first day…not the first week…THE FIRST DAY! It’s interesting that he used a baby picture as the cover of the CD. Two albums that come to mind, Biggie’s “Ready to Die” and Nas’ “Illmatic,” both have baby pictures of the artist and both, in my book, are classics. Let’s see if Lil Wayne can follow suit here.

How sad! Totally disturbing…….teach them when they are children and they won’t part from it……uh, again, how sad. Black folks, are you serious…..is this as far as we’ve come. Its not even about the $$, its about us as a people and as a culture. Although, we are separate…..one of us is like all of us…..We won’t have to worry, there will be no one left to be our brothers keeper!

What makes that even more impressive is that his album was leaked a few weeks ago and plenty of people were already circulating copies.
