Lil Wayne Faces New Lawsuit In Bentley Row

Lil Wayne
A week after selling more than a million copies of his latest album, Lil Wayne has been hit with yet another lawsuit after reportedly still failing to pay for work carried out on his custom Bentley in 2005.

Lil Wayne is already being sued for breach of contract by California car customiser LeMarck deAndre, after allegedly reneging on a deal to cover costs totalling $80,000 for modifying his 1999 Bentley Arnage. In the original lawsuit, filed in the Superior Court of California in December 2007, deAndre claimed he initially received a payment of $78,507 from Carter in August 2006 – 10 months after the invoice was originally due.
The late payment broke their agreement and deAndre cancelled the job altogether.

But deAndre has now filed another suit against Lil Wayne for a further $123,800 in damages and he blames the rapper’s “financial illiteracy” for the blunder. He says:

“My direct observation and experience with Dwayne M. Carter’s financial and personal irresponsibility over the years has taught and demonstrated to me that he has become the ‘new symbol of financial illiteracy and slavery in/of the 21st century’ and this is unequivocally not fiction nor is it a misunderstanding. For a little over five years, I have been involved with the consistent and perpetual business behavioural illustrations of Dwayne M. Carter’s high-level of financial illiteracy, lack of liquidity, leveraged acquisition liability accumulation and below zero net-worth; as well as lack of business communication, character, and integrity – all learned behaviours – and the primary reasons for non-payment.”

I understand that he wants his money, but those are some strong words. The same financial illiteracy that he is talking about is probably the only reason he can charge over $100,000 for custom modifications that probably cost less than $20k.

[...] Lil Wayne has teamed up with French vineyard and wine manufacturers Voirin-Jumel to produce a range of bubbly – entitled Halo champagne. In an interview with Allhiphop.com, he states, “I’m excited about this venture… Champagne is for celebrating. There are so many different business opportunities. I’m ready to put my foot in a new door.” He definitely should be excited about this new venture, especially “celebrating” all the record sales he’s had. Good luck bro’!
