BET Awards Recap-West Wins Big, T-Pain’s Slo Mo…
Posted by KPopeKanye West was the big winner at the BET awards show that aired last night in LA. West brought home the Best Male Hip Hop Artist as well as Best Collaboration with T-Pain on their Good Life Track. T-Pain was funny as hell when he walked to/from the stage in slo-motion enjoying every minute of the spot light. I was happy for them both, but really appreciated T-Pain’s speech as he explained, “Two years ago I couldn’t even afford a ticket to get in here maan, thanks to the fans…” Lots of folks hate on T-Pain, but that dude is on every hott radio song out these days-he’s brilliant and adds a lot to hip hop music.
Young Chris Brown walked away with the Best Male R&B artist, Alicia Keys won Best Female R&B artist which was very well deserved. Her performance which included old school female group greats like SWV, En Vogue and TLC was very unique and a great blast from the past. They all still look great and I was very surprised by their sound.
Winners also included:
Best Female R+B Artist: Alicia Keys
Best Male R+B Artist: Chris Brown
Best Group: UGK
Best Gospel Artist: Marvin Sapp
Best Female Hip-Hop Artist: Missy Elliott
Best Male Hip-Hop Artist: Kanye West
Best New Artist: The-Dream
Best Collaboration: Kanye West + T-Pain - Good Life
Video Of The Year: UGK f/Outkast, International Player’s Anthem (I Choose You)

Female Athlete Of The Year: Candace Parker
Male Athlete Of The Year: Kobe Bryant

Humanitarian Award: Quincy Jones
This was hands down the best BET Awards show that they have produced. Besides the sound glitches during some of the performances, I thought the show went fairly smooth and was worth all the hype. Of course, if you missed it- BET does a great job with the repeats…the first encore takes place this Friday, June 27th @ 7:30pm.
I am a big “live show” fan and performances worth a round of applause were Alicia Keys, Neyo, Chris Brown ft. Ciara, Marvin Sapp, Nelly, Jermaine Dupri & Fergie, Al Green, Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell + the Speech made by Quincy Jones was unforgettable. Great Job BET!!!!!
