Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman harboured journalistic intentions before embarking on a career as an actor. He was a writer for a newswire service. The Academy Award winner had dreams of becoming an actor at an early age, but was forced into another career after moving to New York and discovering he was desperate for cash. He says, “I didn’t have much in the way of money, so I had to crank it up some other way. I found a job with an outfit called Press Wireless as a telegrapher. “Correspondents from around the world sent all of their dispatchers into Press Wireless and we sent them to whatever newspaper they were scheduled to do. “I was working in October, November, December and January of 1960/61. It was an exciting time to work. That was when Fidel Castro took over Cuba.” Freeman is currently starring alongside Angelina Jolie in his latest movie “Wanted.”

[...] Morgan Freeman has accepted a role to play Nelson Mandela in a new film that will document the 1995 World Rugby Cup. Freeman is currently mastering Mandela’s voice and heavy accent in preparation for this film that is based on John Carlin’s book Nelson Mandela + The Game That Made a Nation. Shooting will begin early next year in South Africa where the World Rugby Cup was held that year. It should be a great story as South Africa won the world cup in 1995 + Nelson Mandela presented the Championship Trophy to the delight of a capacity crowd. Apartheid ended one year earlier in 1994!   Posted in Uncategorized 0 Comment Subscribe to RSS Feed [...]
