Book Company Sues Foxy and Lil’ Kim

Posted by Rod

Executives at a U.S. publishing company has launched legal action against Foxy Brown and Lil Kim accusing the rappers of failing to deliver books they were paid to write.

Lawyers for Simon + Schuster Inc filed papers on Thursday claiming Brown was paid $75,000 to deliver a book about her life, titled Broken Silence, by February 2006.
Lil’ Kim has been accused of taking a $40,000 payment for a novel which was due for completion in June 2004.

After signing the book deals, both women were sent to prison.  Lil’ Kim was jailed for a year in 2005 for lying about a shooting, and Brown spent eight months behind bars for violating her probation, stemming from a 2006 assault conviction.  She was released in April.

The New York-based publishing company is seeking remuneration for the advance payments which were awarded to the two artists.

The reason they didn’t follow through is they got to about page two of writing their book and realized their lives are not that interesting.
