Drama After Kid’s Choice Awards

Posted by Brian

Rev Run and Family

Last night, Nickelodeon held their 20th Annual Kid’s Choice Awards hosted by Justin Timberlake. The ridiculous part is the shooting that happened at the after-party!

At a party attended by mostly teenagers, three people were wounded by gunshots. There are no suspects at this time and the police allege it was gang related.

Is there no place people can go and feel safe? Who was working the door that gang members get in?  It’s a damn shame that shootings or violence happen EVERYWHERE! The last thing I would expect is a shooting at a Nickelodeon After-Party. That even sounds dumb as I type it.

Soul Train Awards 2007

Posted by Brian

Jnet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri and LaToya Luckett

Why did no one show up for the Soul Train Awards? Many of the award winners were not in attendance to accept their prize. This included Jay-Z, Beyonce, Mary J. Blig, and John Legend.

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson was in the house to receive her pre-announced Entertainer of the Year honor.

The Show was hosted by Letoya Luckett and Omarion.

The press room at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium was also a virtual ghost town, as many of the celebs who showed up to Saturday’s ceremony did not come backstage for interviews, including Hudson, and fellow Soul Train honorees Jermaine Dupri and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. But, the “Chicken Noodle Soup” duo, Webstar and Young B, came back to discuss their prize for Best Dance Cut.

The 21st annual Soul Train Music Awards will be broadcast in national syndication from March 17 through March 24.

Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker Win Oscars

Posted by Brian

Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson

The 79th Annual Academy Awards turned out to be history for Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker as they both won Oscars.

Jennifer Hudson won for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Dreamgirls” and Forest Whitaker won for Best Actor.

With the amount of media coverage that Jennifer has had lately, it was not much of a surprise, but we all know how it can look obvious and then someone win the award for a movie you have never even heard of. Just another big step for what I expect will be a huge 2007 for her.

17th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards

Posted by Brian

Nia Long

The stars came out in Los Angeles last night for tbe NAACP Theatre Awards. As usual everyone looked outstanding. What I don’t really get is the awards everyone won.

Most of the plays and movies I have not seen, but even worse have never even heard of?

  • Usher Raymond, who appeared on Broadway last year in Chicago, received the group’s Spirit Award
  • George C Wolfe, the former artistic director of the Public Theater and director of such Broadway hits as Angels in America and Caroline, or Change, received the group’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
  • Lawrence Fishburne was named Best Lead Actor for Without Walls.
  • Marion J. Caffey was named Best Director for Da Kink in My Hair,
  • Valerie Pettiford was named Best Lead Actress for The Wild Party

When did these movies come out and where were they showing? I better start watching BET on Saturday night’s to catch a replay of some these after Belly goes off.
