Kanye Backs Soulja Boy
Posted by RodRapper Kanye West has sided with Soulja Boy in his war of words with gangster rapper Ice-T, branding him the “true meaning” of hip-hop. The Crank That (Soulja Boy) hitmaker recently hit back at Ice-T after the rap veteran criticized him and his “garbage” music in a radio interview last week.
In a message on his online blog, West writes: “Soulja Boy is fresh as hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip-hop is supposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t hip-hop then what is? That song was so dope ’cause everything he said had a hidden meaning … that’s Nas level s**t.”
Kanye, Kanye, Kanye. Can Nas and Soulja Boy really be used in the same sentence? Does a guy get that much credit for 1 song that he can now be compared to the likes of a guy who has released hot record after hot record?
Wake up Mr. West!!

Tha Carter III Moves 423
Posted by Rodthousand that is!!! According to Billboard magazine the excessive leaks and bootlegging of Lil Wayne’s new album haven’t prevented it from being a hot seller: The rapper’s “Tha Carter III” sold 423,000 copies in its first day of release. With such sales, Lil Wayne is on pace to sell about 900,000 copies of the CD in its first week and post the best sales debut of the year.
The release date for “Tha Carter III” was pushed back several times because the album was frequently leaked and bootlegged. The year’s best first-week seller so far was posted by Mariah Carey who sold about 463,000 of her “E=MC2.”
Love him or hate him you gotta give credit where credit is due. In this day and age of bootlegging, Itunes, etc. it says a lot when an artist can move 423,000 units in the first day…not the first week…THE FIRST DAY! It’s interesting that he used a baby picture as the cover of the CD. Two albums that come to mind, Biggie’s “Ready to Die” and Nas’ “Illmatic,” both have baby pictures of the artist and both, in my book, are classics. Let’s see if Lil Wayne can follow suit here.

Foxy Brown Jailed
Posted by ShakeerFoxy Brown was hauled off to jail Wednesday after a judge revoked her probation. The 27-year-old rapper was accused of violating the terms of her release after she was arrested earlier this month on charges she smacked her neighbor with her cell phone. Authorities said Brown also skipped her anger management classes and traveled out of the city without permission.
“She has an air of entitlement about her,” city Department of Probation lawyer Matilde Leo said at a hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court. “Probation is a privilege, not a right. … She has finally abused that privilege to the point of no return.”
Judge Melissa Jackson ordered Brown jailed until her next hearing on Sept. 7.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was on probation for attacking two manicurists at a nail salon in 2004. She was arrested Aug. 14 on charges of assaulting Arlene Raymond, 25, on July 30 after the pair got into a fight over Brown blasting her car stereo near her home in Brooklyn.
Brown’s lawyer, state Sen. John Sampson, argued that it wasn’t necessary to send her back to jail.
He told the judge the case against Brown in Brooklyn was weak, and that Brown is three months’ pregnant. He said Brown has turned her life around with her pregnancy, wedding plans and deals for a new album and reality television show.
I guess ya’ll were right, her being pregant did not keep her out of jail. She should learn something from all of these stupid court appearances. That lesson is, she’s washed up, hasn’t had a hit in years, so no one is going to comp her anything. She also must have forgot about the new school hustle, sue a celebrity for anything to get loot, but she actually gives people reasons to sure her.
The Biggie Search Is On…
Posted by BrandonAssociated Press reports that their is a casting call for a professional or unknown talent to play the role of the Notorious BIG for an upcoming biopic of the fallen rapper.
Producers will find the star of the film “Notorious” by auditioning those who resemble Christopher Wallace, B.I.G.’s born name. In the works for nearly seven years, Fox Searchlight bought the rights to the film in 2005 from Wallace’s mother Vonetta Wallace, who is on tap to produce along with Wallace’s two former managers, Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts. George Tillman (”Soul Food”) will be directing.
Notorious has been rumored for far too long to have not come out. My only hope is that they do some justice to the greatest rapper/story-teller of all time. I’m not trying to have the conversation about who yall think are they greatest cause I just told you.
Rumor has is that when searching Hollywood for an actor to pull off this role the name Forrest Whitaker came up. Then someone realized that he is 46 and Big was 24 in ‘97 when he got shot up. The person that thought of that should get his ass kicked. I think this will have to be an unknown fat cat that will blow up in the Black community.
Biggie Biggie Give me one hit…
