New Music: Ashanti - The Way That I Love You

Posted by Brian

Ashanti Video: The Way I Love You.

Ashanti released her new video last for “The Way That I Love You.” Just the average kind of song, that will get overplayed on the radio. It is a song with the exact story line we have heard so many times. Her songs used to be more original.

What I really find interesting is how the videos are scaling back. It used to be the big video productions with tons of props and editing. Since albums are not selling like they used to, the cut backs are obvious. This video could have been made with a quality camera bought at a Christmas special. There was not much editing with the video because the pics of her filming the video just came out last Friday. It won’t be long before all videos look like the Tone Loc “Wild Thang” video again.

Missy Elliot - Ching-A-Ling

Posted by Brian

New video from Missy Elliot which to me sounds exactly like all of her songs, but I felt compelled to post this video as one of my readers is a die hard Missy fan. Don’t ask me why, cause I can’t explain it!

MTV Names 10 Hottest MC’s In The Game

Posted by Brian

MTV has named who they think are the 10 Hottest MC’s In the Game are and I must have missed when Lil Wayne became so hot. I heard the mix tape and it was hot, but making him numero uno? I think Not! This is definitely a controversial list. Here is how they ranked them:

1. Lil Wayne 2. T.I. 3. Game 4. Andre 3000 5. Kanye West
6. Young Jeezy 7. Jay-Z 8. 50 Cent 9. Common 10. Jim Jones

Although Andre 3000 spit a super hot verse on the Walk It Out Remix, but he doesn’t have enough quality material as of late to make him #4. His last good album was about 5 years ago.

The crew must have been smokin rocks when they put The Game at number 3 or even on the list for that matter.

Jay-Z still goes to the top of my list and unless we go back to his first album, 50 Cent should in no way be on this list.

Since MTV obviously could not get it right, I have taken the courtesy to correct their list. Here it goes:

1. Jay-Z 2. T.I. 3. Kanye West 4. Lil Wayne
5. Ludacris 6. Young Jeezy 7. Common 8. Andre 3000

I will stop there because there are not 10 Hottest MC’s, just eight. No need to add filler to my list.

Disturbing Tha Peace Settles The Beef

Chingy has been recording with Ludacris and company on the new DTP compilation Strength in Numbers, and he is expected to put out his next solo project, Hate It or Love It, in November or December of this year.

Chingy left DTP back in ’04 claiming Chaka Zulu, co-owner of DTP, was being funny with the money. Ching-A-Ling appeared for the first time one stage since then with the DTP crew last month in California at the Powerhouse 2007 Concert.

I think it’s kind of funny (and I say that sarcastically) that this reunion went under the radar for the most part. Now somebody right now is reading this and thinking “it didn’t go under the radar, it just isn’t important.” And to that person or persons I say stop lunchin! Think about it. When all the drama jumped off there was coverage on who said what and who did what. Now that 2 brothers have decided to be responsible and professional, people want to act like it ain’t a big deal. This is the kind of little stuff the hip hop game needs. It’s what our young brothers and sisters need to see. All beef doesn’t have to end with someone losing their life. A hand-shake and an eye to eye conversation goes a long way. Well in this case there was probably a well defined contract also!

DTP’s album is set to hit stores August 28th. Click below to see the video for Celebrity Chick.

New Music: Twista Featuring Pharrell - Give It UP

Posted by Brian

This new video from Twista and Pharell, Give It Up, may be one of the least creative songs I have heard in years!! And that is saying a lot because there is a ton of crap out there.

This hook is painfully awful. I am from Chicago and you always hope that the artist from your hometown take that next step to Super Stardom, but then songs like this make you realize why they can never turn the corner.

If it took longer than One Take to make this song, they were wasting time!

Common May Have Found Forever

Posted by Shakeer

“My daughter found Nemo/ I found a new Primo/ you know how I do it/ I do it for the people” that’s in the opening verse of Common’s latest single ‘The People’ off his new CD ‘Finding Forever’ out July 31, 2007 and they sound like some grown man lyrics. ‘Finding Forever’ is an appropriate album name for an artist who has managed to do just that in the fickle rap game.
