Is Everybody Juicing?

 Timbaland and 50 Cent

I am sure this is being blown out of proportion, but it is a good story anyway. Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Timbaland and Wyclef Jean, and award-winning author and producer Tyler Perry have all been named in a steroids and Human Growth Hormone trafficking investigation.

“Records shared with the Times Union and information from several cooperating witnesses on Long Island indicate Blige and other stars were shipped prescribed human growth hormone or steroids — sometimes under fictitious names — at hotels, production studios, private residences, an upscale Manhattan fitness club and through the Long Island office of Michael Diamond, a chiropractor affiliated with the celebrities, sources said.”

Mary J. Blige: Between August 2005 and January 2007 Blige allegedly received multiple shipments from an Orlando pharmacy of Jentropin, a human growth hormone, and Oxandrolone, an anabolic steroid, in orders sent to her at the Beverly Hills Hotel, MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and Clay Gym in New York City. House of Pain

No that is not a misspelling. After watching an episode my house is in a state of pain. I just spent the last 10 minutes of my life debating if the show is misunderstood or just not a very good show. I didn’t see the need to waste anymore time talking about it. So I ended the conversation with one word “interesting.” And I’m not referring to the show.

Here’s my point…I think of a classic sitcom like Martin and I remember how the first episodes absolutely made your stomach hurt. Remember when Martin tried to get tough with Gina in that first episode and he told her to step? And then he started crying her name as she walked out “Gina! Gina! Gina! Gina!” How could you not tune back in that next Thursday to watch?

I bet if you were to stop reading this post right now and thought of your top 5 Martin episodes they would come to you in no time. Personally I would go with, in no particular order, 1. When they won the SUV (that scene with Otis and Pam may be one of the best in TV history). 2. When Gina killed Martin’s momma bird (”say bye to momma bird…classic!). 3. The Varnel Hill show (Martin and Tommy Davidson was clowning extra hard if you watch closely and when Martin cut in on Jodeci…if you don’t remember that then you are definitely lunchin). 4. When Martin reenacted the scene from New Jack City (if I have to recap that one just stop reading now). And 5. When Martin had to go to court for running the stop sign (you pick a scene).

Anyhow I’m sure Tyler Perry wasn’t trying to be Martin, but when I watched the show last night I felt like I was watching In The House meets Family Matters. I felt like they were trying too hard to get a message across. Hell at one point I thought one of the Wayans brothers were going to pop up in the corner of the screen and shout “MESSAGE!”

I don’t know, maybe I’m speaking out of turn, but I don’t see this as the next great Black sitcom.

House Of Payne Breaks Cable Record

Tyler Perry - House Of Payne

Tyler Perry’s magic touch continues. His most recent work, the sitcom “House of Payne” set the record as the #1 watched cable program of all time.  The show averaged 5.5 million viewers for the first two shows.

The show has received some tough reviews from critics, but that is not really a surprise. TBS is probably pretty happy they signed this show up for 100 episodes.

Daddy’s Little Girl Premiere

Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry is at it again! His new movie “Daddy’s Little Girl” starts next Wednesday, starring Idris Elba(aka Stringer) and Gabrielle Union. Meagan Good showed up in the same earrings she always wears that was discussed on YBF.

I will be checking this out just mainly because I am a fan of The Wire and happy to see people from the show getting other starring roles. How good of an actor is Idris to be born and raised in London and play the hell out of the role as Stringer? That’s Gangsta

Good to have a movie showing a brother working hard to take care of his kids.(Not that uncommon).
